Short answer: Yes, but only partly through SoFi itself. SoFi exports a CSV of about the last two years of transactions from Banking, the account, the gear icon, and Export Transactions. It never produces an Excel, QBO, OFX, or QFX file, and the CSV leaves out the running balance the statement prints. For a full or multi-year history, a closed account, or a file that reconciles, download the monthly statement PDF and convert it to a spreadsheet.
SoFi is a genuine national bank (SoFi Bank, N.A., chartered by the OCC in 2022 and FDIC-insured), so its statements behave like any other bank's. The catch is the export menu, which is thinner than most people expect and trips up anyone trying to close their books or hand records to an accountant.
How to export SoFi transactions to CSV
To export SoFi transactions to CSV, sign in, open Banking, select the account, click the gear icon, and choose Export Transactions. SoFi downloads a comma-separated file covering roughly the last two years. That is the only structured export the app offers. There is no XLSX option, no QuickBooks (QBO) file, and no Quicken (QFX) file anywhere in the account, so if you need any of those you are converting a file yourself.
The CSV is fine for a quick look, but it lists dates, descriptions, and amounts without the running balance. That matters because the running balance is how you confirm a month ties out. Without it you are re-deriving the balance line by line, which is slow and error-prone on a busy account.
Does SoFi export to Excel?
No. SoFi has no Excel or XLSX export. The Export Transactions button produces a CSV only. You can open that CSV in Excel, but it arrives as raw text: amounts may import as text rather than numbers, dates can misread, and there is still no balance column. To get a formatted spreadsheet with typed columns and the balance intact, convert the statement PDF with the SoFi bank statement to Excel converter, which reads the document and returns clean XLSX or CSV rows.
How far back can I get SoFi transactions?
SoFi's CSV export reaches back about two years. Anything older, a multi-year catch-up, or an account you have closed has to come from the monthly statement PDFs, which SoFi keeps well beyond the export window. Download each PDF you need and convert it, and the transactions the export can no longer reach come back with dates and signs preserved. This is the usual reason a freelancer doing a late tax year or a bookkeeper rebuilding a client's books cannot rely on the CSV alone.
What about SoFi credit card and SoFi Invest statements?
SoFi Credit Card and SoFi Invest statements are PDF only. Neither offers a CSV or any structured export, so their transactions reach a spreadsheet only after the PDF is converted. If you run a business card through SoFi, keep the card activity on its own sheet so purchases, payments, and interest stay separate from checking, which keeps the categories clean at tax time.
Getting a SoFi CSV ready for the books
If you do use the two-year CSV, three cleanups make it usable. First, format the amount column as a number and the date column as a date. Second, add a running balance if you need to reconcile, working down from the statement's opening balance. Third, add a category to each line. Sorting by description and tagging each recurring merchant once is the fastest way, and you can automate that first pass with our transaction categorization tool, which labels income and expense lines during conversion. When the numbers look right, run a quick bank reconciliation against the closing balance.
Why so many SoFi users are running a business through a personal account
SoFi does not offer business banking. It provides personal Checking and Savings, a credit card, investing, and loans, and its small-business pages are a lending marketplace, not a SoFi deposit account. So a lot of sole proprietors and freelancers run their business out of a personal SoFi account. That works day to day, but at tax time it means separating business from personal activity and producing clean records without a business-account export to lean on, which is exactly where converting the statement earns its keep.
Getting SoFi into QuickBooks
QuickBooks can connect to SoFi, but only through an aggregated feed, because SoFi has no OFX Direct Connect. Those feeds are widely reported to drop and ask you to reconnect, which leaves gaps in the register. If your books live in QuickBooks, the dependable path is to convert the statement to a QuickBooks-ready file and import it straight into your accounting software rather than fight the feed. For a spreadsheet-first workflow, convert to Excel, check the totals, and import from there.
The bottom line
SoFi lets you export a CSV of about two years, but not an Excel file and not the balance, and its card and investing statements are PDF only. For full history, closed accounts, and a file that actually reconciles, the statement PDF is the reliable source. Convert it once and you have a clean, categorized spreadsheet ready for bookkeeping, taxes, or a loan application.
