CosmoLex costs $49, $99 or $129 per user per month on monthly billing, for the Launch, Core and Pro plans, and CosmoLex says paying yearly saves $120 per user per year. The plan you need depends on two lines in the feature table: bank reconciliation starts on Core, and bank feeds plus the full general ledger are on Pro only. For a small US firm holding client money in trust, Core is the realistic floor, and the real question is whether the bank feed is worth $30 more per user each month.
CosmoLex plans and prices at a glance
CosmoLex rebuilt its pricing page around three tiers. Some review sites still show older plan names and prices, and the structured data behind the CosmoLex page itself still lists the retired Standard and Elite plans, so it is worth reading the visible table rather than a summary. Here is what it shows.

From the plan comparison table on cosmolex.com/pricing, checked September 2026. Yearly billing is advertised as saving $120 per user per year.
Which CosmoLex plan does a law firm with a trust account need?
Core, at minimum. Launch keeps trust ledgers and compliance reports, but it has no bank reconciliation, and a trust account you cannot reconcile against the bank is the one thing a bar auditor will ask about first. The ABA Model Rules for Client Trust Account Records treat quarterly reconciliation as the floor and monthly as better practice, and many states, Florida among them, require it monthly. Launch suits a firm that bills time but does not hold client funds, or keeps its books elsewhere.
Pro is the plan for firms that want CosmoLex to be the only accounting system, because the general ledger and payables live there. A firm on Core still has trust accounting and reconciliation, but runs its operating books and bills through another tool, or keeps them simple.
Is CosmoLex Pro worth it just for bank feeds?
Pro costs $30 more per user per month than Core. For a two-attorney firm that is $60 a month, or $720 a year, and it scales with every paralegal and bookkeeper seat you add. If the general ledger is why you are upgrading, the feed comes along for free. If the feed is the only reason, compare it against what the feed actually saves.
A bank feed pulls transactions from the day you connect it. It does not help with the months before that, with accounts at banks that will not connect, or with the stack of PDFs you inherit when a firm moves onto CosmoLex. And on Core there is a well-documented alternative: CosmoLex imports QBO, Excel and CSV files under Accounting, Bank, Details, Action, Import Transactions, then matches them to your book entries by date and amount, or by check number and amount for checks. Most banks offer a QBO download for recent months. For anything older, you only have the PDF statement, and that is where a CosmoLex bank statement converter turns the PDF into a QBO, Excel or CSV file the import screen accepts.
| Monthly routine | Core with file import | Pro with bank feed |
|---|---|---|
| Added cost per user | None | $30 a month |
| Getting transactions in | Download QBO or convert the PDF, then Import Transactions | Automatic, from the connection date |
| Months before you connected | Same file import | Still a file import |
| Trust rows | Add or match, pick the matter | Add or match, pick the matter |
| Reconciliation | Same screen, same reports | Same screen, same reports |
Workflow per CosmoLex Support articles on importing transactions, managing imported transactions and reconciling bank accounts.
Notice the last two rows. Whichever plan you pick, each trust transaction still needs its matter, and the reconciliation is the same process. The feed saves the download step, not the review.
How much does CosmoLex cost for a small firm per year?
Multiply the plan by users and twelve, then take off $120 per user if you pay yearly. At list price, a solo on Core pays $1,188 a year monthly, or $1,068 yearly. A three-user firm on Pro pays $4,644 a year monthly, or $4,284 yearly. Add-ons are extra: CosmoLex publishes a CRM add-on and a website add-on on the same page, and those carry their own fees.
| Firm size | Core, monthly billing | Core, yearly billing | Pro, monthly billing | Pro, yearly billing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 user | $1,188 | $1,068 | $1,548 | $1,428 |
| 2 users | $2,376 | $2,136 | $3,096 | $2,856 |
| 3 users | $3,564 | $3,204 | $4,644 | $4,284 |
| 5 users | $5,940 | $5,340 | $7,740 | $7,140 |
Annual cost computed from the monthly list price and the advertised $120 per user yearly saving. Excludes add-ons and taxes.
The free trial includes the full product with one limit: a single bank feed connection. That makes the trial a fair test of the feed on your main operating or trust account before you commit to Pro.
Does CosmoLex replace QuickBooks for a law firm?
On Pro, it can. The general ledger and payables are included, so trust, operating and business accounting sit in one system and there is no separate QuickBooks subscription to pay. On Core you keep trust accounting and reconciliation, but you may still want another tool for the operating books. That is the main difference from Clio, where many firms pair practice management with QuickBooks; our guide to the Clio QuickBooks integration for law firms shows what syncs and what does not, and Clio firms can use the Clio bank statement converter for the same PDF problem.
What CosmoLex pricing does not cover
Three costs sit outside the subscription. First, time: someone still reviews and matches every trust transaction, feed or no feed. Second, history: migrating to CosmoLex means bringing in prior months, and banks rarely keep downloadable files for all of them. Third, collections: CosmoLex handles invoicing and online payments, but if your real problem is invoices that sit unpaid for 60 days, a tool that chases every overdue invoice by email and text is a separate purchase worth pricing out.
For the history problem, converting statements is usually cheaper than the hours it replaces. BankXLSX Starter is $49 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for 2,500 pages with Excel and CSV output, and Plus at $149 a month, or $74 yearly, adds QBO export and bulk upload of up to 50 statements. A new account can convert 15 pages once with no credit card, enough to run one trust statement through CosmoLex Import Transactions and see the matches before you pay. Once the rows are in, the three-way trust account reconciliation walkthrough covers the monthly tie-out.
CosmoLex pricing: the short version
Launch at $49 is for billing without trust reconciliation. Core at $99 is the entry point for any firm holding client funds, with bank reconciliation and file imports. Pro at $129 adds the general ledger and bank feeds. If the general ledger is not on your list, Core plus converted statement files covers the bank side for less, and you need file imports for older months on either plan.
Frequently asked questions
How much does CosmoLex cost per month?
CosmoLex lists three plans on monthly billing: Launch at $49, Core at $99 and Pro at $129 per user per month. Yearly billing is advertised as saving $120 per user per year. Add-ons such as the CRM and website products are priced separately.
Does CosmoLex Core include bank feeds?
No. The CosmoLex pricing table marks bank feeds on the Pro plan only. Core firms import bank activity from QBO, Excel or CSV files, which CosmoLex then matches to book entries before reconciliation.
Which CosmoLex plan includes bank reconciliation?
Core and Pro. Launch includes trust accounting and trust compliance reporting but not bank reconciliation, so firms that hold client funds and must reconcile trust accounts usually start on Core.
Is there a free trial of CosmoLex?
Yes. CosmoLex offers a free trial with no credit card. It includes the same functionality as a paid subscription with one exception: you are limited to a single bank feed connection.
Can CosmoLex import old bank statements?
It imports QBO, Excel and CSV files, not PDFs. For months your bank no longer offers as a download, convert the PDF statement to QBO, Excel or CSV first, then use Action > Import Transactions on the bank account.
Is CosmoLex cheaper than paying for Clio and QuickBooks?
It can be, because CosmoLex Pro includes a general ledger, so there is no separate QuickBooks subscription. Clio pricing depends on the plan and your firm size, so put the two quotes side by side with the QuickBooks plan you would need.
