Nitro PDF pricing at a glance

Nitro sells a second product line, Nitro Sign, for electronic signatures. It has its own Standard, Plus and Enterprise tiers and none of them publish a price on the pricing page either. If you are comparing against Docusign rather than against Acrobat, that is a separate quote.

What you get for $15 a month

Nitro PDF Standard is the plan most buyers land on. It covers the full editing set: create, convert, combine, edit, annotate and secure PDFs, password protection, digital signatures, and OCR that runs automatically on scanned files. It includes the AI tools Nitro has been adding, which summarize long documents and answer questions about their contents. Support is 24/7/365, and there are prebuilt integrations for Salesforce, Zapier, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, OneDrive and Google Workspace.

Plus adds the things large organizations ask procurement about: single sign on, domain control, Azure Information Protection, and a Nitro Analytics dashboard that reports on usage and ROI. If you need SSO, you need Plus, and you need a conversation with sales to find out what it costs.

The Classic license is three years, not forever

This is the detail worth slowing down on. A one time payment of $270 sitting next to a subscription at $180 a year looks like the familiar perpetual versus subscription trade. It is not. Nitro describes Classic as a three year license, so the honest comparison is $270 against three years of Standard.

Classic is genuinely the cheaper route across those three years, at half the effective rate. What you trade away is Mac and iOS, the AI features, and the newer capabilities that land in the subscription builds first. At the end of year three you are buying again either way. If you want a PDF editor you truly own outright, Nitro is not selling one, and a perpetual license from a competitor is the thing to look at instead.

Two more details from the Nitro FAQ save time later. You can buy up to 20 subscription licenses directly online, and anything above that routes to sales. And every subscription is billed annually, so the $15 is a rate rather than a monthly charge you will see on a card.

Is Nitro PDF cheaper than Adobe Acrobat?

Marginally, and it depends which Acrobat you compare. Adobe publishes Acrobat Pro at $19.99 a month and Acrobat Standard at $14.99 a month on annual plans. Against Nitro PDF Standard at $15, Nitro undercuts Pro clearly and sits level with Standard.

Read down that last column and the real spread is not the monthly number, it is the license model. What Nitro PDF pricing does not buy you

Every plan above exports to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. None of them export QBO, OFX, QFX or QIF. For most buyers that is irrelevant. For anyone whose documents are bank statements it is the whole ballgame, because those are the formats accounting software actually ingests.

Nitro will convert a statement PDF to Excel, and on Windows the Extract Table and Form Data tool added in January 2025 does a decent job of detecting tables and consolidating them into one sheet. What comes out is a spreadsheet shaped like the printed page. Withdrawals and deposits arrive unsigned in whichever columns the bank drew, so summing the amount column is meaningless until you fix every row. Long merchant descriptions that wrapped onto a second line become their own rows with empty amount cells. Repeated column headings and carried forward balances come through as data. And no running balance is checked against the statement, so an extraction error stays invisible.

That is not a flaw in Nitro. It is what a tool built to be faithful to a page does when handed a document whose value is the ledger behind the page. It just means the $180 a year does not remove the manual pass. There is a 14 day free trial with full access, no credit card and no features locked, which is more generous than most trials in this category and worth using before you commit a team. Nitro also runs some free browser based conversion tools on its website for one off jobs. There is no permanently free edition of the desktop application, and downloads advertised elsewhere as free full versions with an activation serial are not legitimate licenses.

Is Nitro PDF worth it?

If you are buying a PDF editor, yes, and the value case is clear at $15 a seat or $270 for three Windows years. It edits text inside PDFs, merges and splits documents, redacts, signs, runs batch OCR, and carries SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and ISO 27001 certification, which usually settles the procurement question. The Microsoft Office style interface is a real advantage when you are rolling it out to people who did not ask for new software.

If you are buying it specifically to get bank statements into a spreadsheet, the price is not the problem and neither is the OCR. The problem is that no amount of PDF editing turns a page into a reconciled register. Budget for the editor if you need an editor, and use a converter built for statements for the statement work.
